After my grandfather was diagnosed, he started keeping a journal full of little memoirs and advise he wanted to pass down. Before he died, he asked me to type up his journal, so "everyone could read it." To this day I don't know if he meant for everyone to have a copy, or if he wanted me to fix his infamously atrocious spelling so it was legible. Either way, it was a treasured gift for us all and I can't think of a better way to honor him than with his own words. This is what he tells us: "We didn't know that angels existed until we had grandchildren." "No one knows you better than you. Have nothing to hide and no one can hurt you." "We may leave those we love, but we will never be far away." "Treat life like a sponge, soak up as much as you can" "Every day when you wake up, tell yourself: 'Today, I will be a better person'" "When you see 'Crazy' coming- cross the street" "Let no one interrupt your dreams, for they are the food that nourishes your being. & give time to the dreams of others, their being is also important." - Maia
