One-on-one training in the DC/Southern
Maryland area is my specialty. Small groups and large groups that can
be split-up into small groups (eg. at a retreat) could also be accomodated.
Here are some of the benefits of this training as opposed to typical large-group
and/or college and other institutional classes.:
Learn at your own pace
Learn at your own skill level
Learn how to do what you want to
do and work on it during the lesson
Learn on your own computer
Here are some class topics and what
they could contain, depending on your needs:
- Beginning Computer
- Turning it on
- Finding Files & Programs
- Creating files and documents
- Different types of programs and what they do
- Basic word programming use

knowledge of computer use as above)

- where to go (for general types of information and your specific
interests)

Here are some specifics you could
learn in a Beginning Web Site Development class:
- How to read HTML - will allow
you to look at the source of any page to tell how it was created and
copy some aspects of others' work, continuing to learn as changes are
made.
- Writing HTML code, including:

- links
- images
- tables
- FTP Publishing (uploading to the
server)
- Resources to learn more (most
available online free of charge)
THE MOST POPULAR CLASS: Learn to start your own web site with free
web tools. References on the Samples
Page. For people with some basic email and internet use skills (no
prior internet training needed). Most can create a beginning site and
learn to maintain it in just 3 hrs.:
- Create your own web site while you learn how to use free web tools.
- Sign-up to free web service.
- Learn about domain name registration and costs of service.
- Create links, upload images, change fonts, colors, alignment, and
more.
What you won't learn: JAVA, Perl
programming, cgi work, technical internet or programming, though some
of this information will be in the resources provided.
Fees: Only $50 per hour plus transportation
& parking costs, if any. (Purchase of manual recommended for some classes.)
Bonus: For a minimum
class of 3 hrs., one year's free consulting via email or phone call is
included!
